Located 560 nautical miles SW of the main island of Mahe, Cosmoledo Atoll is a live-aboard operation on the SY Lone Star – an 85 foot sailing catamaran. The program runs from Friday to Friday, providing the perfect opportunity for those wanting to extend their trip and enjoy the famed Alphonse Island fishing program. Cosmoledo may be the ultimate saltwater destination. The sheer numbers and variety of fish has amazed anglers from across the globe; it is the ultimate playground for the traveling angler.
Cosmoledo’s large white sand flats, lagoon edges and channels are ruled by the notorious giant trevally. A plethora of other species makes Cosmoledo a truly special fishing destination. Bonefish, milkfish, Indo-Pacific permit, triggerfish, bluefin trevally and others call this amazing atoll home.
The SY Lone Star catamaran offers five guest cabins with en-suite bathrooms. The boat offers a comfortable relaxation and dining area that are fully air-conditioned for time not spent on the flats. The spacious foredeck is the perfect place to enjoy the views of this ultimate fishing playground.
As a general rule, we use a 9wt. outfit for bonefish and permit, a 10wt. for triggerfish and milkfish and a 12wt. for GTs, bluefin trevally and barracuda, all paired with quality reels with proven drag systems. A complete gear list will be sent upon confirmation of your trip.
The charter flight departs Mahe at 8 am for the 3 hour flight to Astove Island where guests board the SY Lone Star. The boat will depart immediately for Cosmoledo Atoll which is 18 nautical miles away. After your last day of fishing, the boat departs for either Assumption or Astove Islands for the return flight to Mahe. The SY Lone Star has been retrofitted for fly fishing expeditions. It can accommodate up to 8 anglers, guides and crew, and is a perfect base for exploring the waters of Cosmoledo Atoll. Medical evacuation insurance is mandatory for this destination.
The 7-night/6 day package is $13,950 based on shared accommodation and shared guide, $14,950 for a single room and shared guide, based on availability. The rate includes the round-trip charter flights. Guests need to arrive one day early in Mahe as the charter departs early Friday morning.
