Bolivia is not a country that instantly springs to mind when deliberating over your next fishing destination. However, with the conception of the Tsimane programme in 2009, Bolivia took the fly-fishing world by storm. Their programme in the Bolivian Amazon Jungle at the foot of the Andes Mountains is not only unique, but offers an experience that will continue to captivate from the moment you set foot at the first lodge to the day you set foot on home soil. Indeed, we're confident that after you experience this programme you will become hooked and keep returning - it's one of those places that will always remain special, no matter how many times you visit, presenting a new challenge and experience each time. Its track record speaks for itself at the moment; literally every client we have sent have sung its praises and vowed to return.
The fishing is on freestone rivers - very similar to a classical trout river. During your stay several different rivers will be fished, each presenting unique challenges, all possessing their own qualities and intricacies. The fishing is for Dorado, Pacu, along with a multitude of other species that inhabit these fish rich waters.
Frontiers staff visited Tsimane in their inaugural season and again in 2011, and have first hand knowledge of what to expect and what to take. Golden dorado fishing in general is something special as is fishing a remote freestone stream where few people have ever set foot. Add to this the unique characteristics of what Tsimane River Lodges have to offer and things quickly graduate from special to extraordinary.
