As Chile grows in popularity as a fishing destination, we hear more and more comments along the lines of, ‘Chile is the best-kept secret in the trout fishing world.’ We tell our clients that they are unlikely to see another fisherman on the water during their week in Chile.
The lodges we represent offer great diversity in climate and water (floating and/or wading), but all universally provide outstanding fishing opportunities in almost total privacy. Given the increasingly crowded conditions elsewhere in the world, fishermen are sceptical about this claim. Invariably they return home and say we were right. If this is not enough to pique ones interest, add dramatic scenery, snow or glacier-capped mountains, verdant valleys with river beds that are often carpeted with blooming lupins, and crystal clear rivers full of very big trout. More fishermen catch trout of 10 lbs plus in Chile than in any other place, except the sea trout in Patagonia.
