Formerly a basic service station for travellers to the Yukon and Alaska, Bell 2 Lodge is now a modern wilderness resort. It is located on the Bell Irving River, about 1000 miles north of Vancouver.
In the winter months it is home to one of Canada’s premier heli-skiing operations, but from spring to autumn offers some of the best steelhead fishing in Canada. From improving your casting to providing the perfect fly at the right time, Bell 2 Lodge is committed to offering a well-rounded wilderness fishing adventure. With six rivers to choose from, poor water conditions can be avoided while offering access to more rivers, more water and more trophy steelhead.
Most of the fishing packages will find you concentrating on the fantastic local water that is the Bell Irving River. However, the lodge also offers the chance to access, by helicopter, jet boat and short hikes, the Upper Nass, the Craig, the Meziadin, the Bear, and the Damdochax. Prime steelhead season starts when the fish move into the system in early September and continues through to late October but earlier on in the season, rods are also offered the opportunity to target feisty coho or silver salmon.
The lodge itself resembles a mini-village with walkways connecting all the buildings. While there is capacity for more, the number of guests is limited to only ten fishermen at a time. Guests are accommodated in chalets approximately 100 yards from the main lodge building. Each of the rooms within the chalets is spacious, with either two queen-sized beds or one king-sized bed. All rooms have a private entrance, bathroom, wood-burning fireplace, and telephone and Internet connection. All fishing packages include single rooms.
The lodge's main lounge, dining room and bar are great places to talk steelhead fishing, relax over a drink and enjoy some of the wonderful cuisine the chefs at Bell 2 Lodge are known for creating. After a long day on the water relax in the hot tub or sauna, play a game of pool, enjoy a massage or just relax in the guest lounge. Although your days will be spent in the rugged wild of British Columbia's steelhead country, when back at the lodge you'll be far from roughing it.
