Fundo el Salto

Fundo el Salto Lodge is nestled in 85 acres of native forest on the lower slope of snow-capped Osorno Volcano, across from the falls of the Upper Petrohue, in Chile's magnificent Lake District. The lodge is close to spectacular fisheries. The Rio Petrohue is a smooth flowing, freestone river bounded by sandbars and gravel banks. In custom-made wooden McKenzie-style drift boats or inflatable boats, this river is both floated and waded in several day-long sections. While small flies hatch on the Petrohue each evening, the primary food source for abundant wild brown trout and strong, brightly hued Rainbows is the pancora (crayfish) that are native to the river.

There are several other productive, pristine, freestone rivers in remote Andean valleys within driving distance from the lodge. Additionally, the lodge has a beautiful private spring creek where large rainbows and browns cruise in slow moving, gin-clear water. On any day, at any time, you will have the chance to hook a very large trout. Small runs of sea-run brown trout as well as Atlantic and King salmon afford the opportunity for some very exciting action. Rods and reels can be rented at the lodge and flies are available for purchase.
