No See Um Lodge
No See Um Lodge can be summed up very simply: a trout fisherman's paradise. This deluxe fly-fishing only property caters to just twelve guests, guaranteeing an intimate and very personalised experience. It is a family-run operation established by Jack Holman in the early 1970s. Today his son, John, an experienced pilot and guide, maintains No See Um's well-earned reputation for pampering and pleasing their guests.
The lodge is built on a high bank overlooking the Kvichak River. The guest houses have a total of six bedrooms, each equipped with two beds and a complete bathroom. A lounge with bar and woodstove enhance the comfortable setting. After a full day of fishing, you can enjoy the relaxing and friendly atmosphere at the lodge while sipping a beverage or cocktail of your choice as you sample delicious appetizers before dinner. The sauna is fired up daily and the Jacuzzi is always hot.
Gourmet meals are prepared by the world-class chef. They will gladly accommodate any special needs with a little advance notice. Fresh breads, rolls and desserts are prepared daily in the bakery. Select red and white wines are served with dinner.
Electricity is available 24 hours a day, as is telephone and Internet access. Nightly activities include fishing (excellent right in front of the lodge), horseshoes, volleyball, cards, satellite TV, fly tying and internet access (if you bring your own laptop there is wi-fi; if not, limited access is available on the lodge computer).
Located in the heart of the renowned trout-infested Iliamna-Katmai region, No See Um targets Alaska’s famous rainbows, with char, grayling and salmon also a possibility. The lodge has three floatplanes that can stay with parties all day. From No See Um you have a huge area in which to fish and it is this outstanding fly-out fishing, a great setting and wonderful hospitality, that puts No See Um Lodge in the top tier of Alaska’s fly-fishing lodges.

Season to Travel
June - September
Tackle and Kit
We would recommend a 9ft single-handed 8-9 weight rod with varying sink-tip lines for most of the salmon. If you are going for the big Chinook salmon then we suggest also taking a 12-14ft double-handed 9-10 weight rod with a multi-tip line that has fast sink tips or a shooting head system. For the other species use a 9ft single-handed 5-8 weight rod with floating line, 5-30lb leader material, flies, chest waders, waterproof jacket, lifejacket, collapsible wading stick, insect repellent and polarised sunglasses.
Clothing
Alaska has a variable climate and you should dress with comfortable layers that can be shed or put on accordingly. June and July are generally warm, by August and September the weather can be cooler with frosts in the mornings and evenings. Dress code at all the lodges is informal.
