Rio Parismina Lodge
Rio Parismina Lodge combines first-class accommodation and excellent cuisine with productive fishing. The lodge is situated among 50 acres of lush tropical rainforest adjacent to Tortuguero National Park.
For the fisherman, trophy tarpon and snook are the targeted species at this quiet jungle lodge on the banks of the Parismina River. Large numbers of fish can be found either in the river system or at the river mouth cruising the edge of the open ocean and waiting to inhale your offerings. There is also the opportunity to fish just a few miles offshore for wahoo, tuna, dorado and other major game fish. The lagoons, rivers and small jungle creeks afford fly fishermen and light-tackle enthusiasts opportunities for giant guapote, crafty 20 lb snook or trophy machaca and exotically coloured mojarra.
Where you will fish during your stay will depend on the time of year and weather conditions. Rio Parismina has a fleet of 17-ft jon boats that are ideal for the rivers and creeks. But for ocean fishing, their custom-built 21-ft modified V-hull craft have proven invaluable. These center-console boats with 125-hp outboards have now been fitted with bimini tops and facilitate comfortable passage through the river’s inlet and greater manoeuvrability in ocean waters. They also give anglers the option of fishing a virgin reef a few miles off coast for snapper, tuna, wahoo and other major game fish.
The lodge features spacious air-conditioned double rooms with ensuite bathrooms bordered by lush tropical plants and flowers. There is a swimming pool with a waterfall, jacuzzi, fully-stocked tackle shop, and an open-air central lodge with a bar, recreation and a dining area where wonderful meals are served. Non-fishing activities include night-time crocodile tours, turtle excursions (seasonal) and viewing the surrounding jungle wldlife.

Tackle and Kit
We would recommend a 9ft single-handed 12-15 weight rod for sail fish, a 9ft single-handed 10-11 weight rod for tuna, dorado and roosterfish. All rods should be rigged with a highly corrosion resistant reel with a durable and smooth drag system, which holds a large line and backing capacity. High density shooting heads to match recommended rod weights for the sailfish with lighter weight shooting heads for smaller species, a selection of bluewater flies, poppers and polarised sunglasses.
Clothing
Lightweight long sleeved shirts and trousers, deck shoes, sunscreen and hat. We would also recommend a light waterproof spray jacket.
