As Frontiers representatives in India, The Himalayan Outback (HO) represents a benchmark in the mahseer game fishing industry. Not only have they pioneered fly-fishing for the mahseer in the Himalayas but they also maintain a team of some of the most experienced, widely recognised, skilled outdoor professionals in the industry today.
Tours are carefully designed and offer opportunities for anglers that fancy sight fishing, dry-fly fishing, and even something for the die-hard trout angler. You will be reminded of some classic trout streams upon arrival and you will be surprised to see the size of some of the leviathans that you will be casting to.
Prices
Prices for Ramganga range from $3,000 to $4,000 for anglers in prime time and $2,500 to $3,000 for non-anglers.
Fishing Season:
15th February to the 15th of June and then October 1st to November 25th.
Please note that fishing inside the Tiger Reserve is not available in the month of October up to the 15th of November, due to the forest departments' regulations. Accommodation inside the Tiger Reserve is based on double occupancy and is available from the 15th February to the 15th of June. A single-occupancy supplement is available.
Includes:
Escorted transfers throughout the tour that includes pick-up and drop at the New Delhi International airport, accommodation on the river, accommodation in a rest-house on one of the nights inside the Tiger reserve is based on double occupancy, all meals during the fishing days, beverages, including bottled mineral water, one fishing guide per angler, the use of tackle & a dozen flies, 7-days fishing permits and taxes.
Not Included:
International air-fare, gratuities, alcoholic beverages, items of personal nature, flies or lures, meals and accommodation in Delhi upon arrival or departure, single occupancy supplement at the rest-house inside the tiger reserve, additional accommodation / transfers / sightseeing that is not part of the itinerary and other expenses incurred due to flight delays / natural hazards / other hazards beyond our control.
Transportation:
Fly into New Delhi where you will be met by an HO representative.
Activities:
Fishing for the Golden Himalayan mahseer, game-drives & elephant safaris (elephant safaris are subject to availability as they cannot be booked in advance) visit old temples (optional), short hikes through remote villages, and plenty of photography.
Travel Insurance:
In order to protect you incase of having to cancel, postpone or reschedule your trip; we highly recommend that you purchase travel / trip insurance. Due to the nature of our business all deposits and final payments for a tour are non-refundable.
Food Preferences:
We will be happy to accommodate any dietary requests that you may have. We welcome any inputs regarding dietary restrictions, your likes and dislikes prior to your arrival.
Environment Policy:
HO policy is based on a high regard for the environment, and we request our guests to adhere to environmental guidelines to help keep the fragile habitat clean and un-spoilt. HO wish to keep the environment and resources sustainable to benefit the locals, future generations and us. All of the fishing is catch-and-release.
HO support local employment; hence most of our staff comes from the Himalayan regions we operate in.
Medical Conditions:
When booking a tour HO request you inform us about any medical conditions that you may have suffered from in the past, like asthma, high blood-pressure, heart condition, allergies, or any other medical conditions you would like your guides to know about before you indulge in any outdoor activities.
We highly recommend that you travel with a comprehensive medical insurance.
Restrictions:
The government of India prohibits the use of satellite phones, short-range & long-range radio / walkie talkie / hand-held communication devices within India.
Please be intimated that for safety reasons we do not allow any firearms in our operational premises. This company policy / restriction are also applicable on arms like air-rifles / pistols, stun guns, large knives as well as any kind of fire crackers.
Please note that consumption of beef is also prohibited in the premises of our operations.
Flies:
HO make available to our guests a selection of effective patterns that have been developed with the help of pioneers of the Golden Himalayan Mahseer fly-fishing industry. Some of these flies can be bought from the camp manager upon your arrival.
