Pira Lodge is the finest upscale golden dorado fishing lodge in the world. Located 400 miles (644 km) north of Buenos Aires in the Ibera marshland are three million acres of clear water channels and floating islands. Here, Pira Lodge provides the opportunity to fish, from modern flats boats, for the hard-hitting golden dorado. This voracious fish could accurately be described as a cross between a bull terrier and a tarpon. It hammers top-water flies with reckless abandon and immediately explodes out of the water in a series of outrageous jumps and relentless, line-stripping runs. Its physical beauty, violent strike, powerful runs and acrobatic fights are some of the qualities that make the dorado the exceptional sportfish that it is. Stalk these beautiful fish from a skiff as your guide spots from the poling platform and anticipate the aggressive strike, or fish the upper reaches of the Corrientes river. Once hooked, these acrobatic fish will fight hard and test your tackle to the utmost.

A modern, fully air-conditioned lodge provides the amenities of a five-star resort. A refreshing dip in the swimming pool prior to lunch and a short siesta before the afternoon's fishing, make for a relaxed programme. Spacious bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, overhead fans and air conditioning, ensure a good night's rest after a day on the water. An area of incredible biodiversity, the Ibera marshland offers the prospect of great wildlife viewing and photography for non-fishing companions.

Cost: 7-night/6-day fishing programme costs $4,900 per person. 

Charter flights are available from Buenos Aires to Pira Lodge; please inquire for rates. Shorter stays may be quoted upon request and lodge availability.

Unlike many remote fishing lodges, Pira offers much for the non-angler, including hours of horse riding along the edge of the marsh, where they will see an endless variety of bird and wildlife in unspoiled habitat. The marsh can be explored by canoe or sea-kayak, and sunbathing and relaxing by the inviting pool is also a perfect way to unwind and enjoy the reliable, sunny weather.

Single occupancy: Limited capacity, however single rooms will be provided free of charge if available. For requested single use of boat and guide a 50% surcharge of the land package rate will apply.

Price includes:
Deluxe lodge accommodations (double occupancy); meals with wine, soft drinks, beer and local spirits at the lodge. One boat and guide per two anglers.

Price does not include:
Commercial air travel from point of departure to Buenos Aires and return; transfer from Corrientes or Resistencia if applicable; meals, overnights and items of personal expenditures in Buenos Aires; applicable charter cost as noted above; tackle; imported liquor; overweight luggage charges and gratuities.

Deposit
A deposit of 50% per person is required to confirm your reservation. Deposits are non-refundable but are transferable if a replacement is found by cancelling party. Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure. At this point, participant is responsible for total land costs and no refund will be made unless a replacement is found. There is no refund for any unused portion of the land package. Trip cancellation insurance will be offered to each registrant. Receipt of deposit, final and/or full payment is acknowledgment that registrant has read and accepts cancellation/refund and responsibility clauses.

Flight Time from the UK

Several flight options exist from the UK, many of which utilise major european cities such as Paris, Madrid, Barcelona and Frankfurt as a hub with carriers such as Air France, Iberia, Lufthansa all providing connecting flights to Buenos Aires from the UK. British Airways offers a flight from Heathrow that goes via Sao Paulo in Brazil, where you stay on the plane, and this is the preferred route for the majority of our passengers. Tackle and Kit
Single-handed 8-9 weight rods with high quality reels. Floating line, various sinktips as deep as 300 grain. Leaders should be 20-30lbs with fine wire trace. Assorted streamer flies.
