Bair's Lodge
Formerly Bair Bahamas Guest House, the new Bair's Lodge is now owned and operated by renowned lodge owners/managers Nervous Waters. Nervous Waters has a handful of premier fishing lodges in South America, including Kau-Tapen on Argentina's famous Rio Grande River, but they have now taken their knowledge and attention to detail into the world of saltwater fishing.
Bair’s offers outstanding personal service, remote flats fishing, fine cuisine, and excellent friendly and personable guides. Since the early 1990s, Bair’s has been regarded as providing the best bonefishing and lodging South Andros has to offer. Perfect for groups, the charming air-conditioned house has six double occupancy rooms, each with queen-size beds and ensuite facilities. Superb cuisine includes beautifully prepared Bahamian specialities concentrating on magnificent fresh seafood, and when applicable, 'the catch of the day'. In addition to the comfort of the dining room, sitting room and bar, fishermen will appreciate the convenience of the fly-tying table and facilities, as well as the on-site fly shop, fully equipped with flies, rods, reels, lines and selected items of flats wear and local crafts.
As for the fishing, since men have fished for bonefish, Andros has been a name synonymous with the biggest fish, and South Andros has built a reputation over the years as being the location to try for a 'giant'. The South Andros fishery is expansive and there is excellent fishing in Deep Creek and Little Creek, which are both just 15-20 minutes from the lodge. You can also make longer runs to more remote waters to the south and west. Bonefish here average 3-5 lbs, but with access to such remote waters including the fabled West Side, opportunities for double-digit fish are realistic. Boats are operated by first-class fishing guides, whose local knowledge and expertise is instrumental to the success of your fishing day. On the flats you will also encounter barracuda, small sharks and the occasional tarpon cruising the deeper creeks and channels.
Offshore fishing can be arranged seasonally for billfish species, wahoo, tuna and dorado.

Tackle and Kit
We would recommend a 9ft single-handed 8 weight rod for bonefish, a 9ft single-handed 9 weight rod for permit and a heavier 9ft 10-11 weight rod for tarpon and barracuda. All rods should be rigged with good saltwater reels with reliable disc drags. Floating and intermediate clear tipped weight-forward lines, a selection of bonefish and tarpon leaders, flies, long-nosed pliers and polarised sunglasses. Light spinning tackle.
Clothing
Lightweight long sleeved shirts and trousers, wading shoes, sunscreen and peaked hat. We would also recommend a light waterproof spray jacket and a good waterproof tackle bag that can be stowed aboard your skiff.
