Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca is located approximately ten miles south of Casa Blanca, its sister lodge on the island of Punta Pajaros. Its whitewashed cabanas overlook the turquoise waters of the Caribbean with ten miles of white sand beach, providing an ideal destination for couples, small groups and families seeking a relaxing, low-key holiday to escape the real world and recharge their batteries.

For those that come for the fishing, species diversity is the big draw. More often than not fishermen can expect to cast to bonefish, permit, tarpon and snook, as well as a variety of the non-glamour species such as jacks and barracuda. All this in the course of a week’s fishing and sometimes even in the same day. Guests fish from the decks of comfortable Dolphin Super Skiffs powered by Yamaha outboards. The guides are hard working, knowledgeable and have plenty of experience in the tarpon lagoons and bonefish flats of the Santa Rosa Lagoon system and Espiritu Santo Bay, an  area that is put under far less fishing pressure because of the remote location. Espiritu Santo Bay is relatively unexplored with Grand Slam potential. Santa Rosa can be fished in the most inclement of weather, as thirty-foot high mangrove lined lagoons provide protection, as well as habitat for snook and juvenile tarpon. Santa Rosa is also teeming with bonefish in the 2-8 lbs range.

For those that do not fish or just want a day away from the flats, then the white sand beaches are on your doorstep and the warm sea offers superb snorkelling. For the more energetic there are bicycles on which to explore the island or it is possible to access the mangrove lagoons by kayak.

Playa Blanca can accommodate up to 14 people and has thatched cabanas overlooking the beach, all with private verandas, large baths, ceiling fans, and 110-volt outlets that accommodate all US appliances.  300 yards down the beach are Casa Redonda and the Suite available only with advance notice, and perfect for small groups or families.  The climate is nearly perfect year round. From November through June, the days are dry with an average midday temperature of 88F. The hotel offers a high level of seclusion and personal service in pristine natural surroundings. If you want to totally get away from it all, Playa Blanca is the place.
