Just across the Straits of Magellan from Tierra del Fuego on a 500,000 acre ranch is the exclusive Bella Vista Lodge.

Just eight rods have the rare luxury of private access to over 30 miles (48 km) of sea trout fishing on the Rio Gallegos and almost 20 miles (32 km) of dry-fly fishing for brown trout on the Gallegos Chico. Guests here have access to more water than is possible to fish in one week. Imagine your own fishing kingdom where miles and miles of stunning country, all the way to the Chilean border, lie before you to choose exactly where you want to fish. It is truly uplifting that such a fishing location still exists.

Bella Vista lends itself perfectly to those who enjoy a private party in beautiful surroundings and we strongly recommend putting your own group together although individual rods are equally welcome. Bella Vista offers spacious bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a living area and bar, along with an excellent solarium-style wader and fly-tying room. The hospitality at Bella Vista is second to none and guests visiting for the first time always feel immediately at home. Such is the experience at Bella Vista that most want to return for a second time.

The Rio Gallegos is not as prolific as its southerly cousin the Rio Grande by any means but it still offers some wonderful fishing for sea trout and the Rio Chico has some truly great brown trout fishing. The lodge itself is very comfortable and the chef produces delicious meals to tantalise the taste buds. It is a slower pace of life here where fishing is just one part of the whole experience.

Flight Time from the UK

Several flight options exist from the UK, many of which utilise major european cities such as Paris, Madrid, Barcelona and Frankfurt as a hub with carriers such as Air France, Iberia,  Lufthansa all providing connecting flights to Buenos Aires from the UK. British Airways offers a flight from Heathrow that goes via Sao Paulo in Brazil, where you stay on the plane, and this is the preferred route for the majority of our passengers. 12-15ft double-handed 8-9 weight rods or 9ft single-handed 8 weight rods, multi-tipped lines from floating to fast sink, 12lb and 10lb clear leaders, flies, chest waders, wading jacket, polarised sunglasses.

Clothing
The weather can be changeable, so be prepared for all conditions especially the wind when fishing in Tierra del Fuego or Gallegos. We would recommend layered comfortable clothing that can be added to, or shed, depending on the prevailing conditions.
