On a beautiful 96-acre private cay, off the north-east coast of Andros Island, sits one of the most unique properties in the Caribbean. Kamalame Cay is the perfect island escape for those seeking superior accommodation, gourmet cuisine, miles of white-sand beach and great flats and offshore fishing.

Described as a ‘barefoot chic’ Caribbean retreat, Kamalame Cay featuring 19 luxurious seaside rooms and suites in a range of charming cottages, bungalows, Balinese-style beach houses and classic plantation-style villas. Extraordinary attention to every detail is a hallmark of the property. Kamalame can easily accommodate solo anglers, couples and families.

Fishermen can fish the numerous flats immediately around Kamalame or take a drive north to the world-class Joulter Cays. The Joulters are a series of beautiful hard, white, sand flats that extend as far as the eye can see - reminiscent of the Seychelles or Christmas Island.  Expect large schools of bonefish in the 3 lb range with an occasional fish in the 7-10 lb range. Kamalame also offers access to the virtually untapped waters near Red Bays on the north-west side of the island.

Light-tackle offshore fishing is also offered. The Tongue of the Ocean, a 6,000-ft trench along the third-largest barrier reef in the world, is just a mile from the shores of Kamalame. Offshore enthusiasts can expect to encounter dorado, wahoo, tuna and even marlin. Kamalame’s full-time captain is well versed in both fly and conventional tackle.

Non-fishers will enjoy Kamalame’s amazing beach, freshwater swimming pool, tennis court and sea kayaks, as well as guided island tours, snorkelling and diving with experienced PADI-certified instructors.

The Spa at Kamalame offers an over-the-water spa perched at the end of a 200-ft pier with five treatment rooms, all with unobstructed views to the turquoise Atlantic in front and below. Along with traditional massages, therapists offer several unique treatments incorporating wonderful natural ingredients available on Kamalame Cay - freshly shredded young coconut, mineral-rich sea salt, nourishing exotic oils, soothing seaweed and other natural plants.

Kamalame has many different types of accommodations, so please contact us about options and current rates.

For example, a 5-night/4-day flats fishing package, including room taxes, staff gratuities and bar bill, starts at $3,435 per person based on shared guide and double occupancy in the Anglers Nest accommodations.

Deposit
A non-refundable deposit of 50% per person is required within 10 days of booking to confirm a reservation. The deposit will be applied in full to a future trip taken within one year of original date (based on availability) if written cancellation is received 46 days or more prior to departure. Final payment is due 45 days prior to departure. At this point, participant is responsible for total land cost and no refund will be made unless client replacement is found. There is no refund for unused portion of the land package. Trip cancellation insurance is recommended to each registrant. Receipt of deposit is acknowledgment that registrant has read and accepts the cancellation/refund and responsibility clauses.

Visa Requirements for UK Citizens
No visa requirement if travelling direct from UK to Bahamas.
If entering or exiting via US, an ESTA application for 90-day US visa waiver is required prior to travel.

Documents Required
A passport that is valid for six months after the last day of your trip is required.

Primarily bonefish, some tarpon, permit, barracuda and pelagic species depending on the time of year that you are travelling.

Tackle and Kit
We would recommend a 9ft single-handed 8 weight rod for bonefish, a 9ft single-handed 9 weight rod for permit and a heavier 9ft 10-11 weight rod for tarpon and barracuda. All rods should be rigged with good saltwater reels with reliable disc drags. Floating and intermediate clear tipped weight-forward lines, a selection of bonefish and tarpon leaders, flies, long-nosed pliers and polarised sunglasses. Light spinning tackle.

Clothing
Lightweight long sleeved shirts and trousers, wading shoes, sunscreen and peaked hat. We would also recommend a light waterproof spray jacket and a good waterproof tackle bag that can be stowed aboard your skiff.
