Managed by DD Wingshooting partners and longtime shooting hosts Bernardo and Mercedes Barran, San Juan offers the convenience of shooting game birds in Uruguay; ducks, doves, perdiz, and even wild pigeons in the mix, from just one destination and the assurance of a world-class outfitter known for attention to detail and quality.
Shooters in the morning enjoy hunting perdiz over prized setters or ducks from a dry blind. Lunch is a sit-down affair at the estancia featuring grilled meats and fine wines. Afternoons include a volume dove shoot as vast flights of eared doves migrate between the roosts, just a few km away.
San Juan accommodates up to 10 guests in 5 bedrooms each with a bathroom and fireplace. A comfortable living and dining room boasts a majestic view to complement exquisite meals and fine wines. On pleasant evenings an open air galleria is available so guests may enjoy the fresh air and countryside.
Semi-auto and o/u rental guns from 28 ga. to 12 ga. will be available. Beretta/Benelli are the common brands carried. Shells species appropriate. Shooting clothes should be light green, green or brown; camouflage is optional. A recoil reduction device is suggested to ease impact of volume shooting.
Estancia San Juan is located in the in the northwest region of Uruguay in the state of Paysandú, 208 miles from Montevideo. American Airlines offers daily non-stop commercial air service from Miami to Montevideo, Uruguay. Hunters will be met at the airport, assisted with gun clearance, if necessary, issued with hunting licenses and transported to the lodge.
Two transfer options: 1. Private charter from Montevideo to Paysandu. Flying time is 50 minutes, and there’s a 30-minute drive to the lodge. 2. Van transfer from Montevideo to the estancia is a 4.5 hour drive.
2016 Nightly rate is $1,350 per hunter. Guests are welcome to shoot as many days as they wish. Non-hunters are welcome at $450 per day. Hunting licenses are $295 per stay. Transfers from Montevideo to the lodge and back $295. Season dates: May 1-September 15.
