Alaska Steelhead Company

Kenai Peninsula, Heli-fishing, spey/switch friendly, swinging and nymphing

Steelhead enter the river systems from the Cook Inlet, and anglers will often catch bright chrome steelhead still with sea lice. Techniques and equipment used can change day to day. Guests may use spey rods swinging flies, or on the smaller rivers, anglers can use single-hand and switch rods nymphing. This trip also provides the most exciting form of transport to the river with their Heli option. Two guests and a pro guide will explore runs that the crowds simply cannot access. In addition to steelhead, guests also enjoy consistent fishing for rainbow trout, silver salmon, and dolly varden.

Fishing

You may fish 4 rivers during your stay. The smallest is accessed on foot. Fall water is normally stable offering smaller, more manageable rigs. The Heli grants access to headwaters no others can reach. You can fish with nymphs or swung flies with single/switch rods using sink tips/weighted flies.
