Alphonse and Farquhar Fishing Report 2019, Seychelles

Three Permit In One Day at Alphonse and Three Bills & Bones Slams for Farquhar!

Alphonse Island Fishing Report - 30th November - 7th December 2019

A cyclone, extremely strong winds and heavy rains, didn’t stop anglers from landing fish on St Francois and Alphonse Atoll last week. Anglers from around the world descended onto Alphonse in search of the catch of a lifetime. Angling was limited over the week due to the bad weather which put both the guides and anglers skills to the test.

Despite the challenging conditions anglers managed to land a total of 302 bonefish which is extremely impressive under such tough conditions.

Day one was a great day for Ferdinando. Ferdinando managed to land three permit in one day which is truly the catch of a lifetime.

Day three turned out fantastic, many anglers caught bones. Douglas managed to land an impressive 80 cm GT and John managed to land a 70 cm GT.

Day five worked out nicely for Paul who managed to land a beautiful 60 cm GT.

Another fantastic week was spent at Alphonse Island fishing St Francois Atoll. Memories were made and bonds were formed that will last a lifetime. Stay tuned for next week’s report as we are sure you won’t want to miss it!

Farquhar Atoll Fishing Report - 07 December - 12 December 2019

Another awesome week of flats fishing has come to an end. Weather conditions were mostly sunny with very little wind. Tides started off in the neap tides with the difference increasing towards the spring tides at the end of the week.

A healthy total of nine giant trevally were brought to hand this week, three of which were landed by Jaron on the flats. Peter, Jim and Darren all managed to tick the GT box, all landing their first GT on the fly. Mike landed two GT’s within the last couple hours of the last day, the biggest of which was a solid 95 cm. Darren also managed to get yet another GT on the final fishing day.

The rods continued to bend, with 29 bonefish being landed between the team. Jaron and Peter were both lucky enough to get their hands on some gold, landing their first of hopefully many Indo-Pacific permit. The bumpy’s were definitely around this week and a lot of time was spent targeting them within the group. A handful of fish were hooked but only two landed by Mike and father in law Paul.

The triggerfish were out and about towards the end of the week. Boat partners William and Peter had an epic session on their final day landing three triggerfish between the two of them. Bob and Jim both landed their first triggerfish on the fly.

On the bluewater side of things, three of our anglers managed to complete their “Bills and Bones” slam this week with Darren, Mike and Jim all successfully landing a sailfish and a bonefish on the same day. Bob landed the only wahoo for the week whilst teasing for sails.
