Andros South

Legendary fishing lodge and home to some of the finest bonefishing in the world

Andros South is a friendly, laid-back bonefishing lodge that concentrates on providing a fishing experience that is second to none. All rooms are single occupancy, clean, comfortable, and air-conditioned. The lodge is located in Kemp’s Bay on the southeastern shore of Andros Island. “Andros” is the largest and least-inhabited island in the Bahamas. South Andros Island itself is riddled with innumerable tidal creeks and inland flats, all home to hundreds of thousands of hungry bonefish. The diversity and size of the fishery mean a completely different fishing experience every day of your trip.

Fishing

South Andros flats teem with life. In addition to an incredible population of bonefish, there is sight fishing for barracuda, jacks and even sharks. Some anglers enjoy looking for permit when the conditions are right, and a lucky angler in the right place/right time might even see a tarpon swim by.

Accommodation

If you are looking for white linen tablecloths, you should look elsewhere. If you’re looking for a comfortable place to spend the week fishing and enjoying a quiet island in the Bahamas, you’ve come to the right place. Guests have their own air conditioned room and a bathroom complete with shower.

Gear

8-wt. outfits with floating lines are the norm, while 9-wts. provide additional backbone for bigger fish and the occasional permit or barracuda opportunity. Basic bonefish patterns like the Gotcha, Crazy Charlie, Puff and Spawning Shrimp are great, with leader and tippet tapered to 12 lbs.

Trip Specifics

Fly commercially to Nassau via several US gateways. Daily commercial service from Nassau to the Congo Town airport is provided by a few domestic carriers. Flights must arrive into Congo Town during daylight hours. The lodge is just a 20 minute drive from the airport. Flying via private charter out of Ft. Lauderdale can often provide additional fishing time. Please call us for a quote. You must possess a passport valid for 6 months after the last day of your trip. No visa is required for U.S. citizens. Non-fishing activities are very limited.
