The Aniak sets up very well for every angler’s wishes. Variety is the key and they have it in spades. The Kuskokwim River has one of the largest returns of Kings and Silvers in the state, and the majority of these fish head straight for the Aniak. Kings average 20 to 30 lbs. In addition to all salmon species, fishing for Leopard Rainbow trout, Dolly Varden, Char, and Grayling is as good as it gets anywhere and offers an option to salmon. The real treat here is the “mousing”. All season long, trout will explode on a mouse pattern.
This area is like the Alaska of old. No pressure, isolated, and one of the most dynamic rivers in the state. You’ll have jet-boat access to endless miles of remote river, side channels, braids, and tribs full of rainbows, dollies, grayling, and all Salmon species. Awesome year-round mousing river.
The new tent lodge sits 25 miles upstream from Aniak. These are huge 10X30 Weatherport tents each with 2 full-sized beds, en-suite bath/shower, hot water, propane heat, and electric power. Each cabin has a covered front porch. The dining hall tent will include a lounge and fly-tying area.
Fly: 9/10 wt rods for Kings and 6/7 wt rods for Coho and Chums. They have a variety of flies for use.
Conventional: 7/8 foot medium action (silvers, chums, sockeye) 10/15 lb. line, 7/8 foot medium/heavy (King Salmon) 15/25 lb. line. Spin cast fishing equipment and tackle are available by request
