Based out of a luxurious private villa, Bahia Honda is located 25 minutes from Key West. The lodge specializes in sight fishing for migratory tarpon (with the possibility of permit and bonefish) during the prime months of April, May and June only. The guides stay on site, which allows for a customized fishing day based on the preferred tides.
The lodge features large comfortable bedrooms, indoor and outdoor sitting areas, pool and open bar. The cuisine celebrates the best of Florida with emphasis on fresh locally caught seafood.
The flexible daily schedule allows the guides to fish when tides are best. With easy access to the bright sandy flats of the Atlantic Ocean or the secluded backcountry waters, the guides take advantage of two distinctly different tide cycles and the opportunities offered by each.
The lodge is spectacular. The interior features Italian marble floors, vaulted ceiling over the large living room which opens to a pool and courtyard and features a flat screen television, open bar and computer area. With 5 bedrooms, the lodge can host as many as 10 anglers sharing.
The lodge will provide all of the tackle if needed. If you want to bring your own, as a general rule, pack an 11 or 12 weight outfit for the tarpon, an 8 or 9 weight outfit for bonefish, and a 10 weight outfit for the permit.
You access the lodge via the Key West Airport followed by a 25 minute drive. You can fly to Key West via Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Atlanta and other select cities. If flying privately, the Marathon Jet Port is a 40 minute drive from the lodge. Some clients prefer to drive the very scenic U.S. 1 highway (approximately a 3-hour drive) past Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon and the 7 Mile Bridge before reaching the lodge.
The all-inclusive lodge covers everything except your flights, gratuities, lodge transfers and items of a personal nature.
