The Colombian Pacific was virtually unknown among anglers as until recently, no international quality fishing operations were available. The lack of infrastructure has kept this area pristine with very little pressure making it one of the true last frontiers. The water depth drops to thousands of feet just miles from shore so, often, you will be fishing for pelagic species with the mountains and jungle as your backdrop. The Black Sands Lodge mission is to provide you with the epitome of bluewater fishing experiences in an untapped destination brimming with potential.
The fishing is a unique experience. You will find yourself sight-casting to massive schools of busting Yellowfin tuna, teasing Sailfish, or casting among beautiful structures along the shorelines and rock formations in search of roosterfish, tarpon, snook, or giant cuberas with fly or conventional.
Discover this newly established lodge. Nestled along the pristine shoreline, the lodge is graced with a picturesque private beach, framed by a captivating backdrop of lush jungle. Providing ample space, the accommodation can comfortably host up to 12 guests, with three cozy and inviting cottages.
There is no need to bring any fishing gear if you prefer not to. The lodge has the full array of both fly and conventional fishing equipment. If you wish to bring your own fly fishing gear we suggest 12 weight upwards and high calibe reels that can contain plenty of backing.
There are plenty of direct flights from Europe and the US diretc to Bogota. You may enjoy to stay a night or two in Bogota to see the city (Frontiers can assist) before proceeding on to Medellin where again one can overnight. It is possible to do Bogota to Bahia Solano (your final destination) in one day but it is an early start. From the very small airport of Bahia Solano, you will be met by the Black Sands team who will take you the short drive to the waiting boat. Often, guests go straight out for a half day of fishing while their bags are taken to the lodge. Fishing ends at 5pm.
By quotation depending on choice of boat and room requirements. The lodge fleet consists of SIROCO, a 2019 Contender 32' Tournament series, meticulously outfitted with twin Yamaha 300's, and VOLANTIS, a 2022 Contender 39ST series, powered by 3 Yamaha 300s.
