The best all-round safari camp in Zambia, Chiawa combines conservation with a reputation for consistently high standards. The camp features exceptional guiding and wildlife, an unpretentious atmosphere, personalized service, great accommodation, exquisite cuisine, a variety of safari activities, and excellent vehicles and boats. Reliable communications and logistics are all backed up and arranged by the owner/operator, the Cumings Family. You will not only experience an unsurpassed safari, but a trouble-free one as well. Enjoy Big 5 game viewing along with fishing the famed Zambezi River!
The best time to pursue tigerfish is from late August to mid-November. Beginners and world-class anglers alike have set a number of IGFA World Records here. The camp lies within a well-managed conservation zone. Netting is not permitted and a 100% catch and release policy applies for all species.
Nine Superior Tents feature extra spacious, king sized beds with pure cotton linens. A separate daybed, indoor and outdoor showers, double wash basins, roll top ball and claw bath overlooking the Zambezi River, 24/7 electricity and free wifi are also included.
Experienced anglers are encouraged to bring their own equipment and a complete list of gear will be sent upon trip confirmation. 8-10 wt rods are recommended. Complimentary gear is available for guest use with clients charged for any tackle losses or breakage.
Guests fly commercially to Lusaka and connect with the Proflight scheduled charter flight to Jeki or Royal airstrip. You will be met at the airstrip and transferred to camp via a scenic, 35 minute, game drive. Charter flight costs are not included, but are reasonably priced.
US Citizens will require a visa for entry to Zambia.
Perfect for a non-fishing partner, there are alternative camp activities such as day and night game drives in 4x4 vehicles, guided bush walks, canoe trips and boat safaris on the river, and photographic “hides” overlooking strategic waterholes.
