Cosmoledo has become known as one of the best giant trevally fisheries in the world and has now become the benchmark for fly fishers searching for an outstanding saltwater fishing experience. Located 560 nautical miles SW of the main island of Mahe, Cosmoledo has a single eco-lodge situated on Wizard Island where nature meets creative, eco-friendly hospitality. The lodge consists of eight double/twin en-suite cabins with a central communal dining and entertainment area.

Fishing

Cosmoledo’s large white sand flats, lagoon edges and channels are ruled by the notorious giant trevally. A plethora of other species makes Cosmoledo a truly special fishing destination. Bonefish, milkfish, Indo-Pacific permit, triggerfish, bluefin trevally and others call this amazing atoll home.

Accommodation

The lodge consists of eight double/twin en-suite cabins with a central communal dining and entertainment area. The rooms are made up of custom-designed, up-cycled containers, and the dining and entertainment area is a large tent with bare sand floors.

Gear

As a general rule, we use a 9 wt. outfit for bonefish and permit, a 10 wt. for triggerfish and milkfish and a 12 wt. for GTs, bluefin trevally and barracuda, all paired with quality reels with proven drag systems. A complete gear list will be sent upon confirmation of your trip.

Trip Specifics

The charter flight departs Mahe at 8 am for the 3 hour flight to Astove Island where guests board the SY Lone Star. The boat will depart immediately for Cosmoledo Atoll which is 18 nautical miles away. After your last day of fishing, the boat departs for either Assumption or Astove Islands for the return flight to Mahe. The SY Lone Star has been retrofitted for fly fishing expeditions. It can accommodate up to 8 anglers, guides and crew, and is a perfect base for exploring the waters of Cosmoledo Atoll. Medical evacuation insurance is mandatory for this destination.

Rates

7N/6D package 2024 - $19,145, 2025 - $17,926 based on shared occupancy/guide, 2024 $24,185, 2025 - $24,576 for single occupancy/shared guide, based on availability. Includes Mahe charter flights. Guests must arrive 1 day early in Mahe due to early charter flight the following morning.
