Dave Brown Outfitters guides the suburban blue ribbon trophy trout along the Bow River, meandering through Calgary to the remote Elk, Old Man and Crow’s Nest Rivers surrounding majestic Fernie, BC. A less explored region of the Rocky Mountains, these river team with cutthroat, rainbow, brown and bull trout while shorelines are pristine and waters are competition free.
Elk, Bow, Crowsnest, Saint Mary & Oldman Rivers are touted for quality, consistent dry fly action and hatches. Expect large brown, bull, westslope cutthroat and rainbow trout in uncrowded surroundings on water ranging from tiny walk/wade creeks to numerous floatable rivers and trophy lakes.
Accommodations vary and can be inclusive or a la carte. In Calgary Frontiers has preferred status with the premier and ideally located Fairmont Palliser, a city favorite. In Fernie, anglers can choose from resort lodging outside town, B&B’s and quaint town center hotels, all arranged by Frontiers.
5 & 6-weight rods/reels optimum for presenting dry flies and terrestrials. Predominantly weight forward floating lines. A complete gear list will be provided with confirmation packages. Frontiers consultants have first-hand tackle and fly recommendations.

Combine Fernie, BC with trout fishing in Northwestern Montana for a two country Rocky Mountain experience. The Rocky Mountaineer scenic train and a Vancouver visit is a perfect complement to a week of trout fishing. Lunch is included on the river during fishing days. Breakfast and dinner are a la carte. Summer season wet wading is enjoyable.
