Classic estate shoots for mallards and driven pheasants pioneered by Frontiers!

Hosted by English-speaking Frontiers Danish Shooting Director, Jens Torp, guns experience superior sporting-quality game birds at the finest Danish estates. The mallard season begins in September, followed by pheasants (with some mallards intermixed) from mid-October-mid-November. Denmark shooting is a primary venue for the veteran as well as the first-time shot. Exceptional accommodation and gourmet cuisine, without stilted formality, are customary for each program. All in a lovely country with rolling green fields and large forests in an uncrowded countryside.

Shooting

Classic estate shoots for mallards only during September and combination driven pheasants, with some mallards intermixed, beginning mid-October were pioneered by Frontiers in the mid-70s. Groups comprise of 8–10 guns; non-shooters are warmly welcomed.

Accommodation

Most programs include lodging at renowned Falsled Kro on the island of Fyn. Elegant manor homes and castles are available for private groups. Copenhagen offers the luxurious Hotel d’Angleterre in city center adjacent to Strøget, the famous walking street with upscale shops.

Gear

Neutral colored European-style shooting attire is required along with appropriate eye and ear protection. Guns must be side-by-side or over/under doubles. Rental guns are available. We suggest knee-high ‘Wellington” boots in the field. Evening wear is generally semi-formal with coat and tie.

Trip Specifics

The colorful traditions of European shooting are still alive, well and revered in Denmark with the highly-bred, well-trained dogs retrieving beautifully and the traditional game parade at the end of the day. Numerous direct flight options are available to Copenhagen. The gun permit/licensing processing for those planning to travel with their own firearms is obtained in advance. With an English speaking escort, non-shooters enjoy organized excursions to nearby towns and interesting venues, and they are welcome to join shooters in the field. Denmark offers an ideal couple’s sporting vacation.

Rates

Rates vary based on your number of days in the field, the bag of mallards and/or pheasant, the number of guns in the line, and accommodations you choose. Typically, all-inclusive rates are in the range of $4,500–6,500 per gun per day of shooting.
