East Ranga (salmon)

LOCATED ON THE SOUTH COAST IF YOU WANT THE MOST RELIABLE FISHING, THIS IS IT!

The East Ranga is a regular contender in the top 10 rivers of Iceland with an average of over 3000 salmon per year! The Ranga is a cold water river so relies on a smolt release programme. The river offers 9 beats which cover 22km of water, this river by Icelandic standards is a fairly large river. The average weight of the salmon here is about the 8lb mark. It is not classic clear water fishing with small flies and riffled hitch but it is about as reliable salmon fishing as you can find.

Fishing

East Ranga is a larger, cold water Icelandic river, intermediate tips or lines are required to get the flies down. Easy access to most of the river, wading can be difficult depending on the visibility. Switch and double-handers are the best rod choice.

Accommodation

Overlooking the river valley, the lodge is made up of 8 purpose-built cabin buildings. The main area of the lodge has recently been refurbished and will contain the central dining room and entertaining area. Each en-suite room has twin beds.

Gear

you will be able to cover some pools with a single-hander 7-9wt but a double-hander will be preferable.
