Great Flats Program North of Cancun at Isla Blanca in Mar Caribe Biosphere

A versatile flats program in a protected fishery 35 minutes north of Cancun with accommodation options in the reasonably priced city hotel or a premier deluxe resort. Anglers enjoy a great tarpon resource for resident juveniles and migratory trophies and snook, permit, bonefish, jacks, barracuda, and other species. If choosing a resort, it’s a great place to take a non-fishing companion. With so many direct flights to Cancun, it’s one of the easiest quality saltwater programs to access.

Fishing

Isla Blanca fishing area is 35 minutes north of Cancun in the Mar Caribe Biosphere. It covers 50 nautical miles from the Rio Manatee north to Cabo Catoche, the Caribbean border, and the Gulf of Mexico. A fleet of four new 23’ pangas with 50 HP engines and experienced guides welcome you.

Accommodation

Two options: the boutique Blanca Lodging or the deluxe Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres. This program is ideal for people serious fishermen who are looking good fishing and couples who want to fish and enjoy other activities during the stay.

Gear

Fly Rods: 7, 8 & 9-weight for bones, permit, resident tarpon and snook, year-round (all floating Lines); bring an 11 or 12-weight for migratory tarpon season with 350 to 500-grain sinking lines. A complete gear list will be sent upon confirmation. The outfitter has loaner gear available.

Trip Specifics

The program is easily accessed with private transportation from the Cancun Airport. You will be checked in to the hotel in +/- 40 minutes after leaving the airport. When staying in the hotel, you will be met and transferred to meet your guide and get on your skiff for a full day of fishing. Packages of any length can be accommodated but the standard program is 5-nights/4-days.
