Fishing

Fly Fishing Los Roques draws together decades of expertise. The partners are Ramon Paz, who has been involved with fly fishing on the island since 2002 with Sight Cast, and Felipe Reyes, who moved to Los Roques in 1994 and founded Fly Fishing Los Roques. The guides are all veterans of many years.

Accommodation

Villa Caracol has six spacious bedrooms and has a large, bright, airy design with various roof terraces and sitting areas to relax in. Food is excellent and focuses on fish dishes. A four course dinner is served every evening. The rooms have a/c and ceiling fans and wifi is available.

Gear

9-ft. graphite fly rods for a 8, 9 and 10 wt. lines with single-action reels and weight-forward floating saltwater specialty lines work well. A complete list of fly and spinning gear for bonefish and other species including recommended flies and packing list is sent upon trip confirmation.

Trip Specifics

Arrive at the Simon Bolivar International Airport in Maiquetia (CCS) from any major US or European city to overnight at the nearby Eurobuilding Hotel; the next morning, take a 35-minute flight to Los Roques. US citizens need a tourist visa and passport with 6 months validity from date of arrival for entry to Venezuela.

Non-fishing activities include beachcombing, snorkeling, windsurfing, scuba diving, kite-surfing, sea kayaking, paddle boarding, and a visit to the sea turtle research center. Due to the island’s National Park status, development and tourism are strictly controlled.

Rates

No set turn-around day or minimum-stay requirement. Rates below are per person based on double occupancy/shared boat. Please call for single rates and other variations. Rate sheets have inclusions/exclusions.
