Gkhui Gkhui River Lodge is situated on the banks of the Orange River in the Northern Cape, South Africa. The lodge can access arguably the best yellow fish fly-fishing water on the Orange and has excellent guides. This is a family owned property which also has a wide variety of game, birds and waterfowl on a prime hunting area of over 20, 000 ha. The lodge itself is modern and very comfortable with excellent food and facilities. Non-fishers and hunters are also well catered.
The Orange River is acclaimed as the ultimate destination for yellow fish aficionados. With access to long pools, rapids and miles of water you can fish dry fly or nymph for smallmouth yellows or streamer for the largemouth yellows. Guides will take you out on cata rafts or you can wet wade.
Accommodation is in standalone luxury rooms with river views. Each room has its own private deck, full bathroom and air conditioners. The main lodge offers dining inside in a stunning restaurant area or outside on the large deck overlooking the river.
We recommend 4-5 weight 9 foot rods with floating lines for small-mouth yellow fish and 6-7 weight 9 foot rods for large-mouth yellow fish.
