Picture this, fishing completely wild waters surrounded by wildflower meadows, lunch and dinner by the river to maximise fishing time.. Well we can now offer this in the form of Haddon Estate. The four rivers on offer were made completely wild in 2003. From 2-3lb brown trout, the only wild rainbows in the country and grayling, this is a dream destination for fly fishing in England. The best part is it also caters for non-fishing partners with the rich history of Haddon and surrounding houses. If you need a get away in the stunning Derbyshire countryside give us a call today.
These special rivers offer dry fly only, catch and release fishing. All fish you catch are completely wild and live in moderately clear to gin clear water depending on the river. Fishing is done on beats of the river which are private water for the selected day to allow fish to be rested as needed.
A country cottage on the estate makes the perfect home for your trip, teamed with your own chef you will be more than comfortable. Staying on the estate opens up meals by the river for a magical experience. alternatively The Peacock Hotel is also owned by the Estate and can cater for single parties.
Ideal rods are an 8.5 to 9ft 3 and 5 wt, with floating line. There is no wading required but wellington boots may be needed to net your fish. Avoid bright clothing, but a cap, waterproof and polaroid sunglasses are essential. Light leader down to 2lb and fishing mud are advised! Dry fly only.
Frontiers staff have personally visited this Estate and experienced the magic it can offer. The beauty of Haddon Estate is it caters to non-fishing partners too, visit Chatsworth house, complete a private tour of Haddon itself or learn to fish with a private guide. All four rivers offer dry fly, catch and release only fishing. To make the most of your trip we recommend planning early to ensure the best opportunities for both fishing and accommodation. We recommend starting to plan before Christmas of the year before. Frontiers can arrange fishing, guides, accommodation and transport.
Prices vary from estate to estate or beat to beat and at different times of year. Please discuss your objectives with Frontiers and we will quote based on your objectives to include fishing, guides, transport, lunches on the river, accommodation or whatever your preferences are.
