Langa is a very attractive rocky river and very popular with English rods. This river offers 26km of fishing and 100 pools. The upper reaches flow through lava fields, over falls with small, plentiful pools. The middle section enters a small canyon and then opens out to the lower section of grasslands and wonderful, easy access pools. Its final reaches are about as dramatic and pretty as one can hope for with the river literally dropping into the sea after the famous Crocodile pool.
It is rare that one can watch fish literally jump from the sea, into the river and then fish for them almost right there. Langa has wonderful variety from its lower rocky pools to its meadows and upper canyon. With the new dam, water holds out well.
The Langa Lodge is a modern, functional facility which works well for its purpose. Rooms are a good size in every area and it has lovely views over the river. It is well placed for travelling up and down the river. All rooms are ensuite of course.
We recommend a 7wt single-hander and 12ft double-hander with floating lines and a back-up sink-tip. 8, 10 and 12lb leader covers most rivers with 15 or even 20lbs on some.
This is a grilse river first and foremost therefore a numbers river, and that is what to hope for. The lodge is great, the river about as attractive as they come. Located in the west of Iceland, Langa is only 2 hrs from Keflavik airport and close to Borganes. Alternatively you can fly into Reykjavik airport by private jet, 1 hr away.
Every trip to Iceland is different with a varying number of days fishing, possibly in different areas staying in different lodges and with or without non-fishing extensions. Therefore, every trip is by quotation once planned based on your choices and preferences as well as choice of accommodation.
