Los Melonares - Partridge Shooting

A beautiful family estate with fine shooting...

Los Melonares reminds us the most of a UK shoot with the thicker bush, greener hues and more acute valleys. The shooting is excellent and one cannot help but feel at home at the wonderful house with its orange tree-lined courtyards, large outside sitting areas and display of trophies from times gone by. A collection that your host's father, the first ever Weatherby Trophy to be won by a Spaniard. The family are very hands on beginning with your hostess Pachi, a keen shot herself and a bundle of energy for whom nothing is too much trouble. Her charming, relaxed No 2 is Gerónimo, what a team!

Shooting

Los Melonares shows excellent high birds driven from distance thus having time to lift across the valleys. There is plenty of variety too with their signature drive, El Muro, an example. Guns are tight to a valley bank and birds are launched high off the top so there is little time to shoot.

Accommodation

The house is like being in an interior designed natural history museum - there is so much to see in every corner. There are 17 rooms in total, 12 in the main house and 5 in the family house. Most are upstairs, some are around a courtyard. There is endless space throughout the house and courtyards.

Gear

Casual, dull coloured clothing in the field with walking boots and rain gear just in case, with an extra layer for the mornings. Make sure you have eye and ear protection and shooting gloves for hot barrels! Evening attire is as your party wish it - smart casual is the most common choice.

Trip Specifics

Los Melonares is a wonderful estate near the very beautiful city of Seville which is a must-see either before or after shooting to enjoy the architecture and the wonderful tapas bars. The estate will pick you up from either your hotel or the airport and drive you the one hour to Los Melonares. There you will settle in and relax before dinner that evening. After a leisurely breakfast and gun fitting for those renting guns, the vehicles head off into the valleys of the shoot. Drinks are served after each drive with taco and lunch served at locations around the estate chosen for their views.
