Madison River Lodge

Intimate, upscale, all-inclusive lodge on the banks of Montana’s Upper Madison.

Located halfway between “Quake” Lake and the town of Ennis, Madison River Lodge enjoys excellent access to the entire Upper Madison. The property is beautiful, with a great stretch of river frontage to explore as well as a casting pond. Madison River Lodge enjoys detail-oriented management from a team that travels extensively and is passionate about destination angling. The food is excellent, the décor is classic and inviting, and the fishing on the Madison is legendary. The lodge’s smaller size makes it perfect for intact group buyouts.

Fishing

Fishing is mostly done from hardbottom drift boats, but wading is also possible at times. Hatches of caddis, salmon flies (and other stones), mayflies, and great terrestrial opportunities exist throughout the season, along with excellent nymphing and remarkable streamer fishing.

Accommodation

Madison River Lodge has 5 guest rooms, each with en suite bath and most with walk-out decks. The large, comfortable common space has fireplace and large windows overlooking the river. Dining is family style. Outdoor spaces include fire-pits, horseshoe pits, and large deck.

Gear

Fishing gear is provided as part of your stay. If you wish to bring your own, we recommend floating lines on 9 ft rods in 5wt and 6wt for dry flies and nymphing, and 7wt rods with sink tips for streamer fishing. Bring sunglasses, hat, rain gear, and proper clothing for changing weather.

Trip Specifics

Access is easy via Bozeman. A rental car is recommended for the 90-minute scenic drive, but transfers can be arranged. The lodge is all-inclusive (beer and wine) and guests can bring along their choice of spirits (mixers provided). Premium loaner gear is provided, and rods, reels, flies and other tackle is included with your fishing day. No set start/finish schedule, and stays of all lengths are welcome. Single occupancy upgrades based on availability. Good cell service with most carriers. Close to Yellowstone National Park and Ennis, MT. Transfers, gratuities, and license are not included.
