New Manager Appointed for Ryabaga Camp, Russia, 2020 Season!

We have the following announcement from Ponoi River Company for the upcoming season.

Happy New Year from Ponoi River Co! Though the entirety of the Kola Peninsula remains cloaked in ice, thoughts of the coming Ponoi salmon season continue to warm our hearts. Our longtime friend, guide, and Ryabaga Camp Manager Agustin Lo Greco will be pursuing new endeavors during the 2020 season and will therefore not be returning to camp. In his stead, guide Max Kantor will take on the position of Ryabaga Camp Manager and will undertake the responsibilities of that position immediately.

Max has been a part of the Ryabaga Guide Team since 2018. He grew up in the United States where he enjoyed targeting both fresh and saltwater species along the Atlantic coast. Prior to joining Ryabaga, Max worked at a premier remote fly-out lodge in Alaska, swinging flies for chinook and at various other salmon and trout species. After joining the team in Ryabaga, Max quickly fell in love with the Ponoi experience and culture. Whether fishing the lower beats by hovercraft, tying flies for his next guests, or sharing stories over a Big Tent dinner, Max has become a beloved fixture in Ryabaga Camp. It is truly his second home, and in the role of Camp Manager, Max will no doubt help ensure that Ryabaga is also a second home for our guests.

Please join us in congratulating Max and wishing Agustin the best in his future adventures. We are excited about this new chapter in the ongoing story of the incomparable Ponoi.
