Red Stag Tupungato - Big Game

Red deer in Argentina’s wine country. Hunt in the shadows of Mt. Tupungato

This exclusive preserve spans 10,000 acres and sits on the upper levels of a huge estate. On the lower-elevation grounds, the family operates a productive vineyard. The property is set against a backdrop of some of the highest peaks in the Andes. Mt. Tupungato, visible from all corners of the ranch, is one of the highest volcanoes in the world. The fertile valleys of the Andean foothills provide perfect habitat for deer, and they develop impressive racks with some reaching the 450 SCI + class naturally. Elsewhere, deer of this size are only found in breeding ranches in New Zealand and Europe.

Shooting

Horses, ATVs, and 4x4s are used to reach the hunting areas. Drive times vary but range from 15 to 40 minutes. Guiding is 1:1 and all the professional guides speak English. When on horseback, the group is escorted by a wrangler (Gaucho), who takes care of the horses.

Accommodation

A beautiful old country house located right in the heart of the preserve has been rebuilt for the 2012 season. You will have a choice of upgrades to Posada Salentein & Posada Ancon, two wonderful vineyard properties of the highest quality. The estate is 50 miles south of the Mendoza airport.

Gear

Necessities are high-quality binoculars, comfortable hiking boots, kneepads, and leather gloves for stalking. We'll send a complete gear list upon booking your reservation.

Trip Specifics

You'll fly commercially to Buenos Aires and connect to commercial flight service to Mendoza. Alternate flight schedules are available, and Frontiers is happy to work with customized schedules. We often plan extension travel to various wine country properties in the Mendoza area. This is a great venue for the non-hunting guests who wish to accompany hunters.

Rates

5-night/4-day hunt is $12,950 per person and includes a trophy red stag up to 320” SCI. Trophy upgrades available. Non-hunters welcome at $3,500. Fallow Deer and Wild Boar also available upon request. March/April season. Capacity is 6 hunters and 4 non-hunters.
