Alphonse Island Fishing News - 26th February to 5th March 2022
A slightly quieter week here on Alphonse this week with only five skiffs on the water. The weather was also on our side with lovely sunny days and a gentle breeze for the majority of the week. The spring tides were on our side this week and produced some lovely fish included some bigger GTs.
Starting with the ever-present ghosts of the flats - Nikolay, Christophe, Lois, Johan, Rune and Petter all managed to land their first bonefish. Chantal and Dean also managed to tame some hefty bonefish over 60 cm. The triggerfish were happy this week with Chantal landing a lovely moustache triggerfish and Brad an awesome yellowmargin triggerfish. Brads trigger was part of the only Flats Slam for the week consisting of a GT and a bonefish.
GT Friday lived up to its name with six GTs being caught. Eddie, Richard, Christophe, John and Niall all managed to catch their first GTs this week. The GT of the week goes to Dean who caught a lovely 96 cm GT at five minutes to four on the last day. Paul, Chantal, Patrick and Sergey are no strangers to Alphonse and also managed to catch some GTs this week.
On the bluewater side of things, which has been quiet the last few weeks. Nikolay managed to catch his first yellowfin tuna, while John managed to catch his first sailfish and wahoo.
Although slightly quieter a lovely and fish filled week was had here on Alphonse with some very happy guests and awesome memories. Next week we are heading into the neap tidal cycle so hopefully we will have some good catches of triggerfish and permit. That’s it from us here on Alphonse this week stay tuned for next weeks catch report.

Cosmoledo Atoll Fishing News - 24th February to 3rd March 2022
Week 16 bought 12 anglers to Cosmoledo, with slow moving tides to start the guides were on the search for some big fish.
Stephan , Michael and Olafur made their guides efforts count and landed GTs ranging from 97 cm - 126 cm just on the first day. Stephan landing the largest fish of the week and a personnel best for him of 126 cm.
The GT numbers seen for the week where impressive and everyone capitalised on this, landing a good few fish per day. In the middle of the week there was some ugly weather but regardless of start delays and terrible light loads of bonefish and some special triggers where caught. Stephan managed a very large yellowmargin trigger which was his first yellowmargin landed for him. Marco also landed his first triggerfish which was a beautiful moustache.
With all the great fish being landed it was hard to think it could get any better, but it did. Steve and Patrick celebrated a magical moment together when they both hooked into their personal bests and both fish where over a metre. Patricks GT being 101 cm and Steve’s GT 106 cm.

Farquhar Atoll Fishing News - 23rd February to 2nd March 2022
We have finally got the report for the opening week of Farquhar and we cannot wait to share it with you. This week saw the re-opening of the Farquhar season after the Christmas and New Years break. It was well rested and 10 anglers got to enjoy their weeks fishing.
Veterans of the flats, Ian and Ty had a great week, each with several GTs to their names. Ian also managed to land moustache triggerfish.
Klaus and Christina had a dream start to their week as they landed nine GTs between them on the first day along with a handful of bonefish. They didn’t stop there as they each managed to get a Flats Slams on the same day consisting of a GT, triggerfish and bonefish. A very special day for them to remember.
John managed to land a GT everyday along with some decent bonefish. Sadly he missed the bonefish when he needed it the most to complete the Flats Slam. That day he managed to land three moustache triggerfish, with the biggest being a hefty 45 cm. He also landed a decent 87 cm GT that was hooked and landed well into the surf zone which he did well to present his fly in deep water and rolling waves.
Robert had a cracker week as he managed to land the only two bumphead parrotfish of the week. Sadly, true to their nature, once in hand they didn’t stick around to get a decent photo. He also managed to land the only GT over the one metre mark with a very impressive 105 cm beast.
Newcomers to the saltwater flats Vasili, Andrew, Jake and Brad improved drastically throughout the week and all managed to land their first GTs. With Andrew managing to land the first moustache triggerfish of the week.
Jake came so close to breaking the one metre mark with his still very impressive 99 cm GT caught cruising the shallow Turtle Grass flats.
Even with some unfavourable weather conditions from time to time, the team caught some great fish.

Astove Atoll Fishing News - 28th February to 7th March 2022
Week 17 started off with some calm and exciting spring tides. Our new group was mostly return guests so they were very excited to be back and see what the week held. On arrival we had a brief rundown of the week, got all their gear ready and the right flies, line and leader. After tackle setup the guys took the afternoon to go and see if they can get a fish before the week started.
Day one was very calm conditions and Chris had early action in the morning where he lost a nice fish but he came back strong and landed a 65 cm GT. Graham and Angus went out to the east of the atoll and found a wonderful spot where they saw multiple geets coming in surfing the waves with the incoming tide, here they managed to land four geets, between them the biggest one was 75 cm.
Renea was our only lady angler and it was her first time fly fishing. She was a real warrior and managed to get her first bonefish and many more on the first day of fishing with getting 10 bonefish in one day and the biggest of four pounds.
As the week progressed the weather was up and down with some overcast conditions, but it did not stop Johan from going out and getting his fish. Johan spent some time in the lagoon on the hunt for a geet as the first one got away before the photo was taken. and he managed to get catch another glorious fish of 65 cm.
On the second to last day the weather got better and the fish seemed to come onto the flats again, Angus saw an exciting looking fish on a ray and he made a perfect cast and which landed in the right spot, and with one strip and the fight was on and a few minutes later he landed a 88 cm GT!
