Thatch Caye is an all-inclusive private island Resort and is one of the only resorts in Belize offering overwater bungalows. Thatch Caye is a short boat ride from the mainland in southern Belize near the town of Dangriga. Thatch offers a unique island experience with a capacity of 30 guests. Some of the activities guests enjoy are reef fishing, snorkeling, diving, lobster hunts, kayaking, SUP’s or just relax in one of the many hammocks scattered amongst the palms. Inland tours of Mayan ruins and other local points of interest are also available.
For fly fishing, Thatch partners with Blue Horizon Lodge, offering anglers the most experienced flats guides in Southern Belize. Here you can pursue a Grand Slam: permit, bonefish and tarpon within an hour of the island.
Thatch boasts five premier bungalows built on stilts out over the ocean, with stunning 180° views of distant islands and clear blue water they are a true vacationer’s paradise. In addition, there are oceanfront cabanas, which offer an ideal option for families with children.
Bring a 7 or 8 wt. for bonefish, 9 or 10 wt. outfit for permit and tarpon, all with tropical saltwater floating lines. A complete gear list will be sent upon confirmation. Frontiers can provide expert advice on the right gear for your trip. Some rental gear is available at the resort.
Belize is a two and a half hour flight from several U.S. gateway cities (Miami, Houston, Dallas, and Atlanta). Upon arrival our clients clear customs and take a scheduled Tropic Air 30 minute flight to Dangriga. Guests must arrive in Belize City no later than 3:30 p.m. local Belize time. On departure day, guests should book international flights no earlier than 11 a.m. local Belize time. For U.S. citizens, a passport that is valid for six months after the last day of your trip is required. Residents outside the U.S. should check with their consulate for entry requirements. Wi-Fi is available.
