Zapata Fly Fishing Program on the Georgiana

Exclusive Grand Slam Fishing inside Zapata National Park in Cuba

The Georgiana is a 100-foot live aboard yacht that anchors in the middle of the 1.5 million acres of the Zapata National Park allowing you access to the pristine white-sand flats, hidden lagoons, mangrove edges and tidal creeks where all the grand Slam species can be found. Dolphin skiffs get you into the skinny water where you will pole to cruising fish and where you can get out and wade to tailing permit, bonefish or stealthy snook. Baby tarpon to 30 pounds can be found along the beaches. Chef prepared meals and A/C cooled staterooms with private baths await your return from the water.

Fishing

Up to eight anglers per week can fish miles of the pristine Zapata Park for the Grand Slam species in six Dolphin skiffs. You will fish three days in a single skiff poling or wading the shallow water and three days with a partner floating in a skiff off the beaches looking for cruising fish.

Accommodation

The Georgiana is a 100-foot live-aboard yacht with six air-conditioned staterooms equipped with a single bed, bunkbeds, and private bathrooms. The upper level offers a living/dining room and open lounge to relax and enjoy drinks/appetizers and spectacular Cuban sunsets.

Gear

Generally, 7- or 8-wt outfit for bonefish, 9-10 wt for permit, tarpon, and snook, with saltwater tropical floating line. Flats-style wading shoes/booties are suggested. When fishing as a single, be prepared to exit the skiff to pursue fish on the flats or in the mangroves.
