AK Hunts - Big Game

Free range stag; lake district of Patagonia, Rio Negro Province, Argentina

After working in New Zealand and in prestigious hunting lodges in Argentina; Andres started his red stag hunting operation on privately owned property a few minutes from Bariloche. The 110,000 acre property is well known for its wool production and beef cattle. It’s situated in a vast valley at the foothills of the Andes. Red deer are 100% wild and free range with no high fence. The aim is the quality rather than quantity of trophies taken, so a limit of 10 to 12 guests hunt here per season, and only during the roar. Two hunters per week make this very exclusive. 100% success last season.

Shooting

There is ample space on the ranch to hunt your trophy. You’ll hear stag roaring daily. Deer are plentiful and Andres will help you determine the trophy potential of spotted animals. Lunch/siesta taken midday during your hunt. This ranch is loaded with big stag and you will have daily opportunities.

Accommodation

Bungalows offer 2 twin beds and a king bed in 2 separate bedrooms. A private bathroom/shower has separate access doors to each bedroom. The upstairs offers a kitchenette and living area w/couch and TV/Wi-Fi. Meals are served at the dining area located just down the walkway from the rooms.

Gear

Necessities are high quality binoculars, comfortable hiking boots, kneepads and leather gloves for stalking. A complete gear list will be sent upon booking your reservation.

Trip Specifics

This area is known for versatile landscape; volcanoes, rivers and lakes are to the west in the Nahuel Huapi National Park, to the east are rolling foothills and the steppes. These physical conditions form one of the most unique hunting grounds in the world; a diversity of wildlife will be seen, such as European hares, fox, rheas, pumas and guanacos.

A 2-hour flight from Buenos Aires takes you to San Carlos de Bariloche in northwestern Patagonia. Red deer have roamed the country since 1902, when first introduced by European ranchers. This may be the best free range ranch in the country.

Rates

5 night/4 day hunt is $8,000 per person.
Extras are hunting license, transit tag and trophy export tags ($320) for animals taken, trophy shipment to the US (appx. $1,000), tips, ammunition, phone/fax calls, laundry, any personal gear, and gun rental.
